INVISTA Specialty Materials is investing several million dollars at its two Terate aromatic polyester polyols manufacturing sites located in Wilmington, N.C., and Vlissingen, Netherlands. These investments involve upgrades to boost global production volumes of the Terate HT polyols product line to help meet growing global demand for INVISTA's aromatic polyester polyols.
“Our customers are choosing our innovative Terate HT polyols because these products offer advances in ease of processing and efficiency in rigid foam manufacture, as well as improved adhesion to various substrates, including cold adhesion for spray applications,” said Bill Trowell, global business director for Terate polyols.INVISTA Specialty Materials is investing several million dollars at its two Terate aromatic polyester polyols manufacturing sites located in Wilmington, N.C., and Vlissingen, Netherlands. At the same time, rigid foams containing Terate HT polyols retain many of the differentiated performance features of INVISTA's traditional polyol offerings including high compressive strengths, high weight retention and high volume retention in fire and smoke testing.
“Customers have already experienced increased value in use with our HT technology and this investment will help ensure supply as more customers experience the benefits of these polyols,” said Trowell.
The chemistry that forms the basis for the Terate HT polyols platform is the culmination of several years of research and development, customer trials and feedback. The result is the development of a series of polyols with improved overall performance compared with current aromatic polyester polyols in the marketplace today. INVISTA will produce Terate HT polyols and traditional Terate polyols at both sites.
INVISTA produces Terate polyols for a variety of applications including polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams as well as in coatings, adhesives, elastomers and sealants. Rigid polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foam systems applications include spray foam, insulated appliances, insulated metal panels and other areas that require polyol aromaticity to meet certain approval standards.
