Ashland sets up composites R&D centre in Shanghai

Ashland has set up a composites research and development technical service centre in the Jinling Valley Sci-Tech Industrial Park, Shanghai. The new centre will leverage global talents and facilities to strengthen the company’s innovation and commercialisation efforts and serve as the Asia Pacific technical centre of its composites segment.

Brazil to host Edana's Outlook Plus Latin America 2019

Edana and INDA, the association of the nonwoven fabrics industry, will host the third edition of Outlook Plus Latin America (OPLA) forum in Brazil from May 7-9, 2019. It will examine the economic outlook, market statistics, and latest products and trends for the hygiene, personal care, and medical markets. Edana & INDA are global nonwovens associations.

Autoneum coming up with two new plants in China

Autoneum is coming up with two new plants in addition to the eight existing ones in China. The ninth facility has opened in Pinghu (Zhejiang Province). Another plant in the northeastern city of Shenyang Tiexi (Liaoning Province) is already in the ramp-up phase. The plants will produce lightweight multifunctional components for noise and heat protection.

Hexagon names Jon Smith president Mobile Pipelines

Hexagon Composites has named Jon Smith as president Mobile Pipelines. In his new position, Smith will head the global Mobile Pipelines unit, the industry leader in distribution systems of compressed energy gases beyond the pipeline. Previous to this, Smith was vice president and general manager, Smart Energy Americas for Honeywell International.

Core Industrial Partners (Core), a Chicago-based private equity firm, has taken over Midwest Composite Technologies (MCT), a leading additive manufacturer of prototype and low-volume production components founded in 1984, establishing an industry technology 4.0 platform that it plans to build upon. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Fraunhofer Institute makes OLED elements for textiles

The Fraunhofer Institute for Organic Electronics, Electron Beam and Plasma Technology FEP as a partner for customer-specific OLED (Organic light-emitting diodes) development and production has come up with OLED elements that can be integrated into textiles.
