74 research projects worth ?232 cr approved under NTTM in India so far

Under the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM), India has so far approved 74 research projects worth ?232 crore in the areas of speciality fibres and technical textiles by premier research institutes and organisations in association with industry partners, minister of state for textiles Darshana Jardosh told the lower house of parliament recently.

BIS gives All India First License to 2 firms for protective textiles

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has issued All India First license to two companies at a recent event. The All India First license was felicitated to Palwal-based SMPP Pvt Ltd for bullet resistant jackets as per IS 17051:2018 and to Faridabad-based Star Safety Hub for protective clothing for industrial workers exposed to heat as per IS 15748:2022.

German researchers develop solution for optimising nonwoven production

ProQuIV, the solution developed by Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics ITWM, enables nonwoven masks to filter out at least 94 per cent of the aerosols in the case of the FFP-2 mask and 99 per cent in the case of the FFP-3 version. The solution also enables masks to let enough air through to ensure that the wearer can still breathe properly.
