  • Ahlstrom has earned a platinum medal in the EcoVadis sustainability assessment, ranking in the top 1 per cent of companies.
  • The recognition reflects its strong performance in environmental, ethical, and social practices, as well as its commitment to improvement and sustainability.
  • This highlights Ahlstrom's dedication to supporting its customers' sustainability goals.

Ahlstrom, a global leader in fibre-based specialty materials, has been awarded a platinum medal, the highest recognition level, in the EcoVadis sustainability assessment, ranking Ahlstrom among the top one per cent of companies evaluated over the past 12 months.

The platinum score is based on the company’s sustainability performance in four categories: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement, the company said in a press release.

“We are very proud of this recognition. Through our safe and sustainable solutions and commitment to continuous improvement—highlighted by our newly validated Science-Based Targets and membership in the WBCSD—we are well-positioned to support our customers in achieving their sustainability ambitions. The platinum medal from EcoVadis further reinforces that we are on the right track and making meaningful progress in all core areas of corporate sustainability,” said Johan Lunabba, vice president, sustainability and public affairs at Ahlstrom.

EcoVadis is a globally recognised rating system that brings visibility to companies’ sustainability performance. EcoVadis’ business sustainability ratings are based on international sustainability standards such as the ten principles of the UN Global Compact, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) conventions, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and the ISO 26000 standard. The ratings provide an evidenced-based analysis on performance and an actionable roadmap for continuous improvement.
