The Government of Gujarat in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organizing a seminar on, “Technical Textiles – Harnessing untapped opportunities”, on September 29, 2012 at the Mahatma Gandhi Mandir in the state capital - Gandhinagar.

This seminar is an attempt to bring all the existing technical textile players, research & testing centres, Centre's of Excellence, investors, policy makers etc, on single platform to discuss and deliberate issues and opportunities in the sector.

The state of Gujarat contributes around 10% of the national technical textile sector production and now aspires to become the hub of technical textiles output in India. One-third of the technical textile plants in India are in Gujarat, numbering to around 1,000, who are producing around 200 various products.

In the recent textile policy announced by the Gujarat Government, it has offered a variety of incentives to provide a boost to the sector. As part of the policy it has set up a 'Technical Textile Mission', plans to develop two technical textile parks and envisages attracting 2,000 new technical textile units with investments worth Rs. 100 billion.
