Gurit is well known for its professional composite solutions, used in high performing industry sectors such as aerospace, transportation and construction. Its roots, however, lie in the boatbuilding industry – as well as being used in round the world race yachts and America’s Cup campaigns, and by well-known leisure boat manufacturers such as Riviera and Palm Beach Motor Yachts, Gurit’s high quality products have been used by boat owners and home boat builders for maintenance, repairs and construction for over 30 years.
Gurit continues to develop new solutions for this sector of the marine market and is pleased to present its new Epoxy Repair Kit, a ‘first aid kit’ for boats, comprising everything that is needed to undertake small jobs on a boat, and ideal for use in emergencies and for general maintenance.
For customers in Queensland, the Epoxy Repair Kit, and the rest of the Gurit product range, can be purchased through Gurit’s distributor for the region, CG Composites, who will be present on the Gurit stand at Sanctuary Cove Boat Show.
A more recent development for the build of one-off boats, suitable for the home boatbuilder or an established boatyard, is the Hi-Panel. Introduced to the market four years ago, this solution has been successfully used in the primary structures of a range of boats – from the Origami 6.3m launch Sumo, the Marc Deborde 78ft power catamaran IETA, and the Stimson 56ft sailing monohull Alcedo.
Resin infused core sandwich panels, to a maximum size of 9m x 2m, are manufactured by Gurit’s experienced laminators. They can be supplied to the customer as finished panels, or CNC-cut to shapes provided, complete with part labels where required.
Further completed Hi-Panel projects include hold lids for a fishing boat and carbon interior panels for a luxury catamaran. The range of Gurit products available results in a very versatile solution, and every panel is custom-built to meet the project’s laminate specification, which is provided either by the customer or by Gurit’s in-house team of structural engineers.
