The IFAI Expo Asia 2011, hosted from March 22-25 at Singapore, attracted visitors and delegates from a diverse cross-section of the technical textiles industry including - medical, geosynthetics, nonwovens, e-textiles, smart fabrics, protective clothing, military and architecture shade/structures.
Organized by the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI), the show was directed towards tapping emerging opportunities of business services sector. The expo had over 90 exhibitors and more than 1400 confirmed participants during the event and attracted importers & exporters of air and tension structures, athletics/sports, awnings and canopies as well as stalwarts from other industrial textile applications.
The distinguished participants of the event could learn about the new research and applications during the nine technical symposiums on medical and healthcare applications, sustainability in the textile value chain, geosynthetic applications, materials for environmental and infrastructure applications, technical nonwoven applications, protective clothing, architectural shade and structures and automotive textiles.
The event gave a meaningful networking opportunity to meet with the designers, application industry and government officials from the Asian countries which is rarely seen among such forums.
In an exclusive interview with TechnicalTextile.net, Todd Lindemann, Vice-President – IFAI revealed, “The expo has been well appreciated by the industry and the attendance from the industry, academia and policy makers has exceeded our expectations”
He also added, “The forthcoming show at Baltimore, 'IFAI Expo Americas 2011' to be held from 25th to 27th October at Baltimore, USA has already received a tremendous response and we expect over 400 exhibitors and more than 7,000 visitors to attend the event”.
“IFAI Expo Americas has been chosen for the fourth time to receive the highly coveted international Buyer program designation from the US Department of Commerce” he informed.
Joanne Ferris, Marketing Director - IFAI added that the feedback from industry is quite promising and the organizers would like to have the second show in Asia with much more value addition in terms of the coverage for the entire sector and participation from the user industry.
IFAI Expo Asia 2011 has been a good beginning for the initiative by the organizers in Asia, and was very well accepted by one and all - the exhibitors and visitors across the globe.
