“A combination of increased consumer demand for our products and strong execution by our teams is reflected in our first quarter results. Gross profit for the quarter increased 25 per cent to $1,791 million (Q1 FY19: $1,428 million). Operating profit rose 38 per cent to $904 million (Q1 FY19: $655 million). Net income attributable to Kimberly-Clark Corporation were $660 million in the reported quarter.

Personal Care segment reported 6 per cent rise in sales to $2.4 billion (Q1 FY19: $2.2 billion). Sales of Personal Care in North America increased 10 per cent. While the sales in markets outside North America (Australia, South Korea and Western/Central Europe) grew 5 per cent.

Consumer Tissue segment sales jumped 13 per cent to $1.7 billion (Q1 FY19: $1.5 billion). Sales of Consumer Tissue in North America increased 12 per cent. While the sales in markets outside North America (Australia, South Korea and Western/Central Europe) grew 17 per cent.

“Given the lack of visibility and uncertainty about the pandemic and its potential effects on the global economy and our business, we are temporarily suspending our forward-looking guidance. We expect that we will resume guidance when the environment stabilises and we can provide a clear picture of our expectations,” Hsu said.
