PET Baltija to buy Czech fibre producer in record-breaking investment

PET Baltija, which is one of the largest PolyEthylene Terephthalate (PET) recyclers in Northern Europe, has announced an agreement to acquire a leading Czech fibre producer Tesil Fibres s.r.o, a spin-off of SILON s.r.o. Once closed, this transaction will become one of the largest investments by a Latvian company in the Czech Republic to date.

Researchers in Canada have discovered why a high-performance fabric commonly used in protective garments weakens prematurely when it’s exposed to moisture. They found that sulphur content in some high-performance fabrics weakens them when exposed to moisture. That degradation weakens the safety of protective garments when exposed to different elements.

Finland’s Suominen scores silver level rating in EcoVadis assessment

Finnish nonwovens manufacturer Suominen has achieved a silver level rating in its first-ever EcoVadis assessment for its sustainability work. The company received 63/100 points, which is only three points from reaching the next, gold level. The result places Suominen in the top 8 per cent of textile manufacturing companies rated by EcoVadis.
