UK abolishes 'tampon tax' on menstrual products

The British government recently abolished the tampon tax, honouring its March commitment to remove value-added tax (VAT) on women's sanitary products. Chancellor of the exchequer Rishi Sunak said he was 'proud' the government had delivered on its promise, adding that it is providing free sanitary products in schools, colleges and hospitals.

NIAR gets $13.7 million more for composites research

The National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) has received additional $13.7 million from the United States Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to extend a programme on composites research. For the first phase of the Modeling for Affordable, Sustainable Composites (MASC) research programme, NIAR was awarded $23.5 million in May 2019 by AFRL.

MIT team develops acoustic fabric, being tested on ISS

Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have developed an acoustic fabric which is extremely sensitive to vibrations and can detect impact from microscopic high velocity space particles.
