Borås University's new method for printing on textiles

Scientists at the University of Boras, Sweden, have developed a new method for printing on textiles which cuts short the resource intensive production process. What is currently printed with screen or inkjet technology can now be done by printing directly on textiles with a 3D printer. This is important in producing smart and functional textiles.

Tufts University team makes silk that forms patterns

Scientists at Tufts University School of Engineering have made silk materials that can wrinkle into different patterns like words, textures and images as intricate as a QR code or a fingerprint. The patterns take about one second to form, are stable, but can be erased by flooding the surface of the silk with vapour, allowing one to restart the process.

Freudenberg has acquired activities of Frictins GmbH from Wolnzach including its technology to increase the friction coefficient. This allows lightweight, more compact component designs and transmission of upto 5-times higher torque and shear forces.
