Kraig Biocraft develops silkworm strain for US Army

Kraig Biocraft Laboratories, developer of spider silk based fibres, has developed a strain of genetically engineered silkworms which produces fibres that have the physical properties more suited for use in protective textiles. CompoTech, Czech Technical University in Prague, Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials and Samyang reduction gear Co have joined hands in a project to design and produce a hybrid metal-composite gearbox.
