The Burberry Foundation and Royal College of Art based in London has named Sharon Baurley as professor of design and materials and chair of the Burberry Material Futures Research Group. Advanced Functional Fabrics of America (AFFOA), the non-profit organisation for advanced fabrics, has partnered with MIT-Venture Mentoring Service (MIT-VMS) to launch the Advanced Fabric Entrepreneurship Programme (AFEP). The first 24 venture teams have been selected to join the programme to starting innovative advanced fabric businesses in the US.

Swiss textile innovator, HeiQ, is showing the upgraded version of its dynamic cooling technology, HeiQ Smart Temp, at the Performance Days expo, which is being held on April 18 and 19, 2018, in lounge 5, hall 5, and at the workshops in room 13, in Munich. The technology is shown on high-tech sports fabrics by Pontetorto and Tessitura Taiana Virgilio.
