The project is approved by the state government, and 25 per cent of the overall expenses incurred will be borne by the government. A private medical textiles and hygiene products manufacturer will take up the marketing activity, and is also keen to invest in the project. This is the first-of-its-kind public-private partnership model in the city for such products.
The products manufactured under the project will include surgical shoes, adult and baby diapers, gloves, masks, surgeon gowns, blankets, etc.
The state government has already released around Rs 1 crore for the project. Almost 6,500 square metres of land at Karanj has been allocated for the project.
The project, if implemented successfully, is expected to turn the city into a manufacturing hub for medical textiles in 18 months. (MCJ)
