Maranda Corp. has introduced a new line of composite service bodies. The 40-year-old company is expanding upon the success of its Sprinter Service Body with a line of 56-CA, 60-CA and 84-CA Composite Service Bodies available for pickups and cab-chassis trucks from Chevrolet, Dodge Ram, Ford and GMC.

Composite Service Bodies by Maranda are of the lightest solutions in service bodies on the market. Combined with a standard rear step bumper and tailgate, the Maranda 56-CA Composite Service Body weighs only slightly more than an OEM pickup bed and rear bumper. This fiberglass body has no fillers and is manufactured entirely in North America with North American materials using robotic technology to certify thickness.

“At Maranda, we don’t introduce products unless we can add value. More than simply building a lightweight and corrosion-free service body, we wanted to design features into the product that would leapfrog the industry technologically,” states Francois Boisvert, Maranda Corp.’s Vice President of Engineering. “The big complaints we’ve heard from service body users are security and water management. With this new line of Maranda Composite Service Bodies, these problems are solved.”

All Composite Service Bodies by Maranda are designed with a fully-integrated water management system to prevent rain and condensation from entering closed compartments. Moreover, two concealed heavy-duty steel rotary latches are standard in each compartment for enhanced security.

Fully-adjustable shelving, rear bumper and tailgate are standard for all Maranda Composite Service Bodies. Current options available include LED lighting with instant-on switches, keyless entry, custom bumpers, rolling top and transverse box. The bodies can be complemented with aftermarket accessories like ladder racks, liftgates and slideouts.

As with most of the company’s other composite truck bodies, these Composite Service Bodies were designed to be transferred relatively easily from one chassis to another and are backed by a 10-year limited warranty.

“Composite Service Bodies by Maranda are built for durability and toughness,” said Dan O’Connell, Vice President of Sales. “Fleet managers and financial managers will realize economic benefits in not only fuel economy improvement but also the ability to reuse the bodies. Moreover, savings can be realized in right-sizing the chassis (i.e., 1-ton to 3/4-ton) while maintaining the same available payload and also keeping the truck under payload thresholds to reduce DOT restrictions.”
