Medline bags best place to work in medical supplies sector

Medline Industries, Inc. earns top honors as the best place to work in the medical supplies industry, according to a newly released survey of more than 1,000 sales representatives conducted by MedReps.com, a leading career resource website.

According to MedReps.com’s 2014 survey report, Medline, the largest privately held manufacturer and distributor of medical supplies in the country, “Has a reputation for taking care of its people. Opportunities abound with this fast-paced company, and a growing number of medical sales professionals say Medline is their employer of choice.”

The third annual best places to work survey said that Medline, which has more than 1,100 dedicated sales representatives, ranked high for having a strong product line, which was cited by the respondents as the most important criteria when evaluating prospective employers. Medline also ranked very high as it related to corporate culture and employee growth, specifically its competitive compensation and commission structure.

“We’re very excited to be ranked as the top place to work in our industry and this honor underscores our belief that we have the best sales force in the country,” said Ron Barth, executive vice president of sales for Medline.

“This survey reveals our commitment to provide our sales team not only with the industry’s best products, programs and solutions, but also our desire to deliver opportunities for career development, advancement, and financial security to our employees.”

Medline believes the sales function is so crucial to the success of the company that many of the company’s upper management came from sales positions, including the three senior leaders: Chief Executive Officer Charlie Mills, President Andy Mills and Chief Operating Officer Jim Abrams.   

The report also cited comments by the respondents that highlighted Medline’s advantages, including the following:

“I’ve been there (Medline) 11 years and they have helped me grow professionally and financially over that time, and our future is second to none in the marketplace. I know other reps in other companies and I know I have it better across the board. When you are privately owned by owners like Medline it can’t be beat.”

“Tons of opportunity, fantastic culture, great compensation structure, and they promote from within.”

They are quick to make decisions, and they keep both their employees and customers in mind.
