United Surgical Partners International (USPI), a provider of first-class surgical services for the local community and leader in the nation’s ambulatory surgery center and short–stay hospital industry, has selected Medline Industries, Inc. as its preferred distribution partner for medical and surgical supplies.

The five-year partnership, the second agreement between USPI and Medline, will deliver an estimated savings of $7 million by driving distribution efficiencies across more than 200 surgical facilities nationwide over the term of the agreement.

“We’ve come to know Medline for their proven track record of delivering high quality products and services and we feel confident in growing that relationship,” said Stephanie Phillips, vice president of procurement, USPI. “Their manufacturer-direct approach and supply chain management expertise are critical in driving down cost while enhancing the quality of care.”

Medline, with 37 distribution centers strategically located throughout the United States, will provide its broad assortment of Medline and national brand products directly to USPI’s 200-plus ambulatory surgery centers around the country.

Medline will also deliver cost savings and efficiencies by driving product standardization and utilization solutions, as well as providing enhanced reporting capabilities to help facilities better monitor and control costs. Over the course of the deal, the agreement is expected to be worth approximately $275 million.
