The AquaShield superhydrophobic spray from Nanex, is a water based water repellent and proofing spray.

“A superhydrophobic spray is by far the best waterproofing spray in the world and is a safer alternative to the toxic waterproofing technologies,” says Nanex.

Nanex informs that earlier generation of waterproofing solutions, use chemicals which contain perfluorocarbons (PFC’s), which are harmful to the environment.

These chemical components widely used in many forms of waterproofing technologies have been linked to cancer and are a known immune system toxicant.

According to Nanex, their effect on the environment is very harmful and coupled with the fact that they are near indestructible, pose a very long term environmental hazard.

Due to development of nanotechnology, PFC based water repellent technologies are becoming a thing of the past.

Superhydrophobic nano-coatings function in an entirely new way using sub-molecular polymers that impregnate material by the millions.

“They do so by latching on and creating a new surface texture, one that causes water to increase its surface tension and ball up effectively making as little contact with the surface as possible,” Nanex explains. (AR)
