For the three months ended December 31, 2016, Finnish nonwovens producer Ahlstrom managed a turnaround and reported pretax profit as against pretax loss in the same quarter of 2016. Profit before taxes were €4.8 million in the fourth quarter of 2016, compared to a pretax loss of €20.5 million in the corresponding quarter of its previous year.

Adjusted EBITDA in the quarter under review also rose higher at €26.4 million, representing 9.9 per cent of net sales, compared to €21.6 million in the prior year’s fourth quarter, representing 8.5 per cent of net sales.
In the fourth quarter of 2016, Ahlstrom booked operating profit of €8.0 million vis-à-vis €16.4 million operating loss in 2015, while earnings per share were €0.00 in the reporting quarter, versus €0.46 loss per share in 2015.
Net cash flow from operating activities also expanded to €26.9 million in the fourth quarter of 2016, as against €23.3 million in the earlier year’s same quarter. (AR)
