Nonwovens producer Cia Providência starts 13th production line

Companhia Providência, a leader in the production and commercialization of nonwovens in Brazil, active in the American market and with a global reach announces the inauguration of Kami 13, the companies thirteenth production line and its second one based in the USA, located in Statesville, in North Carolina.

With this new machine, Providência will add 20 thousand tons of nonwoven/year to the local production, doubling the site capacity to answer the demand for high technology products destined to the disposable hygienic market - infant and geriatric diapers, sanitary pads and others-, and for medical use - such as in aprons and surgical fields.

The investment done by the enterprise for this expansion was of U$ 60 million and, according to Hermínio de Freitas, Companhia Providência's CEO, and the expectation is that Kami 13 will have reached its maximum capacity within six months. “We're optimistic with the business increase in the United States of America. The evolution in our first line, inaugurated in January 2011, was very positive”, says the executive. Providência has a total productive capacity of 140 thousand tons of nonwoven/year.

A transnational enterprise
The factory opening in Statesville has already brought good results to Providência. In 2012, the company was featured among the top ten companies with income of up to R$1 billion in a ranking of transnational companies, developed by Dom Cabral Foundation in 2012. Year to year, the company gained seven positions in the latest edition of the list.

“Being among the best enterprises with a billing of up to R$ 1 billion is great, but increasing seven positions in the ranking is even better, because it shows the materialization of our strategic plan,” highlights Hermínio. To the CEO, the investment in Statesville is the main reason behind this conquest.
