Network Rail asks UKFT to help raise face masks supply

The Network Rail has announced that its R&D team has asked UKFT to help it understand the capability of the market for alternative designs and manufacturing techniques for face masks and face visors, should the requirement arise to provide its workforce with this equipment. The Network Rail owns, operates, and develops Britain’s railway infrastructure.

Toray CMA to provide C fibre material to OceanGate

Everett-based OceanGate has selected Toray Composite Materials America as a provider for the carbon fibre material that will be used in the company’s next-generation submersibles. OceanGate used carbon composite in the pressure vessel for its Titan submersible, which was designed to dive 4,000 metres for surveys of the 108-year-old wreck of the Titanic.

INDA, the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry, is remembering Klaus Maitre, a veteran of the nonwovens and textile industry for five decades. Maitre passed away surrounded by his family in Gastonia, North Carolina on March 25, 2020, at the age of 81. INDA serves member companies in the nonwovens/engineered fabrics industry in global commerce.

Mitsui increases meltblown nonwovens’ production

Mitsui Chemicals has increased production facilities for meltblown nonwovens at its wholly owned subsidiary Sunrex Industry. The operations at the new facilities began in January. The expansion comes in response to growing demand for industrial-use meltblown nonwovens, and will increase the group’s production capacity for these materials by 50 per cent.
