Nouryon has completed a €20 million project at Sundsvall, Sweden that raises production capacity for its Expancel expandable microspheres which are used as lightweight filler and blowing agent to make end products lighter, create attractive textures, protect against damage or shield against elements. It also reduces costs as less raw material is used.

ReStore Exo-Suit by ReWalk Robotics, a manufacturer of robotic medical devices for lower limb disabilities, has received CE marking. This is the first clearance of a soft exo-suit, a next generation medical device which can serve a larger and more diverse patient population facing mobility challenges. ReStore Exo-Suit is used for stroke rehabilitation.

Saertex, the manufacturer of multiaxial fabrics and core materials for the production of fibre-reinforced composites, has produced a prototype of a wind turbine blade with probably the longest carbon fibre spar cap made in vacuum infusion technology so far. Ineos has signed a memorandum of understanding with Saudi Aramco and Total, France, to build three new plants in Saudi Arabia. As part of a $5 billion petrochemical complex (Jubail 2), the three plants will produce key building blocks for carbon fibre, engineering polymers and synthetic lubricants that are pivotal to economic growth in the region.
