Low Rhine water levels may affect Solvay’s polyamides

Advanced materials and specialty chemicals company Solvay is expecting its polyamides activities to be temporarily impacted by the severe drop in water levels along the Rhine river following the persistent heat and drought in Central Europe. Rhine begins in the southeastern Swiss Alps and empties into the North Sea flowing through the German Rhineland.

University of Virginia team invents switching effect

Scientists from University of Virginia, in collaboration with materials scientists at Penn State, the University of Maryland and the National Institute of Standards and Technology, have found a “switching effect” for thermal conductivity and mechanical properties that can be used into the fabrication of materials including textiles and garments.

WPT Nonwovens sets up new manufacturing facility

WPT Nonwovens, a nationally recognised manufacturer and distributor of nonwoven materials for a wide range of commercial and consumer products, has set up a new state-of-the-art nonwovens manufacturing facility in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. The new facility provides 100,000,000 square metres of capacity, ample for addition of a new A Celli Spooling Line.

AMRC, NRC-Canada to develop composites for aerospace

Hexagon gets order for TITAN53 transport modules

Hexagon Lincoln has got a substantial order for the new TITAN53 transport modules from Xpress Natural Gas (XNG) a leading full-service provider of CNG Mobile Pipeline, with a total value of $10.6 million. Lear sets up manufacturing seating facility in Flint

Lear, a global supplier of automotive seating and electrical systems, has set up a new manufacturing seating facility in Flint, Michigan. The facility will build seats for just-in-time delivery to the nearby General Motors Flint Assembly plant, and the General Motors Fort Wayne plant in Indiana. It will employ around 600 team members by the end of 2019.
