Kansai Univ, Teijin develop piezoelectric wearable sensors

Professor Yoshiro Tajitsu of Kansai University’s faculty of engineering science and Teijin Frontier Co Ltd, the Teijin Group’s fibre-product converting company, have jointly developed e-stitch, a series of fashionable piezoelectric wearable sensors with stitch designs that measure body motions like extension, contraction, bending and twisting.

MIT team develops process to produce ultrafine fibres

Scientists at MIT have developed a process that produces ultrafine fibres, with diameter in nanometres, or billionths of a metre. These fibres are exceptionally strong, tough, low in density and are expected to be inexpensive and easy to produce. The team says these fibres may be used for many applications, such as protective armour and nanocomposites.
