Owens Corning opens new China Composites Center

Owens Corning, a leading global producer of glass fiber reinforcements for composite systems and residential and commercial building materials, announced the opening of its new China Composites Center here. Featuring a state-of-the-art research and development facility, the 6,000-square-meter center will provide a full array of technical capabilities to enable a team of talented scientists and engineers to offer advanced composite material expertise and solutions for the China market and customers.

With the opening of China Composites Center, Owens Corning is expanding its global innovations footprint to provide support for local customers' success on key aspects of material characterization, composite part prototyping and composite design and modeling. It enables customers and partners to have easy access to Owens Corning's expertise in material science to find new and innovative ways to grow their businesses with existing and new applications.

“China has a huge market of composite materials with great potential in performance material solutions. Our future success depends on investments like China Composite Center to partner with our customers,” said Paul Wei, managing director of China Glass Reinforcements, Owens Corning Composite Solutions Business. “China Composites Center in Shanghai demonstrates our commitment to partner with local customers in this growing market and to advance the benefits of composites in this growing market segment together.”

China Composites Center will also partner with local universities and institutes specializing in material science, chemistry, characterization and processing. Composites training for industry will be conducted at the center too.

We will work side-by-side with our customers and partners to drive the use of composites materials in applications, accelerating the development of the Chinese composites industry,” said Ashish Diwanji, vice president of innovationsn for Owens Corning Composite Solutions Business.
