PolyOne Corporation, provider of specialised polymer materials and solutions, has announced that its OnFlex LO thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) have bagged a 2016 China Industry Development and Innovation Award, from Automobile & Parts magazine, an influential industry journal, co-organised with TÜV Rheinland, a leader in testing and technical services.
OnFlex LO, PolyOne's newest ground-breaking TPE technology, reduces volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by up to 50 per cent versus existing TPEs, and minimises fogging and odour in interior automotive components. The formulation meets stringent odour (VDA 270) and fogging (VDA 278) standards.PolyOne Corporation, provider of specialised polymer materials and solutions, has announced that its OnFlex LO thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) have bagged a 2016 China Industry Development and Innovation Award, from Automobile & Parts magazine, an influential industry journal, co-organised with TÜV Rheinland, a leader in testing and technical services.#
Suitable for numerous components, including HVAC seals, buttons, controls, coin trays, and drink holder mats, OnFlex LO can be overmoulded onto polyolefin substrates using a two-shot injection moulding process.
Woonkeat Moh, general manager, GLS Thermoplastic Elastomers Asia and Specialty Engineered Materials Asia for PolyOne said, “Consumer concerns and industry regulations have made vehicle interior air quality a major focus for automotive manufacturers. To address the challenges, we designed our new materials to give leading automakers and top-tier automotive suppliers the ultimate next-level option. While our existing TPEs lead the industry in low emissions performance, we continue to innovate and anticipate future demands and stricter requirements. Our new material will play an important role in minimising further off-gassing of chemicals to help automakers create a healthier, more enjoyable vehicle environment.” (GK)
