Lenzing launches a highly innovative project in the technical segment and opens its newly-constructed pilot plant to develop fiber products for high-tech electrical applications.

As the market leader, Lenzing continuously works on further developing and improving the properties of its fibers. In Lenzing’s nonwovens business, the focus is on promising applications in the technical segment in addition to the main use of the fibers for wipes. Recently a new research project was introduced at the Heilgenkreuz plant.

“At the end of October we successfully presented initial research results in connection with our pilot plant located at the Heiligenkreuz facility in Burgenland, Austria”, says Gisela Goldhalm, Project Manager New Products Business Unit Nonwoven Fibers. “The pilot facility aims to bring promising laboratory results to a new level, and optimize new fiber solutions, especially for technical applications in the field of energy storage.”

Wolfgang Plasser, Vice President and General Manager Business Unit Nonwoven Fibers, adds: “Lenzing is proud to announce a further innovative fiber development. The technical segment is particularly important to us as a means of compensating for cyclical fluctuations in other businesses such as hygiene. Our innovation focus is on future-oriented technologies, and we are continually striving to expand our product portfolio in this direction.”
