December 12, 2011 - China
The news from recently held 2011 China’s Summit on Composite Materials of Geotextiles reveals that China's production of geotextiles reached 450,000 tons in 2010, China’s production of geotextiles is expected to maintain double-digit annual growth in the next five years, and is expected to reach 730,000 tons by 2015.
In 2006-2010, China's production of geotextiles realized an annual growth rate of 35.3 percent on average, 20 percent higher than the growth rate of entire technical textiles industry at 16 percent.
China's massive investment in infrastructure will lead to continued growth of demand for geotextiles.
President of China Textiles Industry Association (CNITA) Li Ling Shen says, China will once again invest in major infrastructure projects in the coming years, such as railway, freeway, airport, water conservancy and environmental protection projects, each of the project will continue to increase demand for geotextiles.
Li Ling Shen stresses that China will become the world's largest sales market of composite materials of geotextiles. At present, China's consumption of geotextiles and nonwoven geotextiles is more than 300 million square meters, accounting for 40 percent of China’s total non-woven fabrics.
Now geotextiles and construction textiles have increased their positions in China, they have become major projects in the development of applicable products in China’s Twelfth Five-Year Plan period.
