Delhi to host International Conference on Textiles

An “International Conference on Textiles - A Decade Ahead” is going to be held on 9-10 September 2011 at PHD House, Khel Gaon Marg, New Delhi. The North India Section of the Textile Institute and Department Of Textile Technology, IIT Delhi will jointly organize the conference.
The conference will be of interest to machinery manufacturers, technology suppliers, textile and clothing producers, researchers, technologists and academicians across the textiles industry.
The conference will deliberate on:
• Developments in machines, processes and products
• Fibres, yarns, fabric, processing, clothing and marketing innovations
• Use of emerging technologies such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, information technology, plasma processing in the area of textiles and clothing
• Innovative & newer applications of textiles and method of production
• Futuristic textiles & likely developments
• Sustainable processes and products
• Manufacturing set-ups, marketing and organizational changes

North India Section of the Textile Institute (NISTI Regd.):
A subsidiary of the Textile Institute (Manchester), UK, it is a forum for TI members resident in north Indian states. It fosters members’ professional interest by organizing meetings, factory visits, workshops, conferences and social events. An international conference is held periodically. The last conference in 2008, jointly held with Pearl Academy of Fashion, focused on “Sustainability in the Textile Fashion Chain: From Crop to Shop” and earlier in 2006 on “Natural Fibres”.
Textile Technology Department, IIT, Delhi
Department of Textile Technology, IIT Delhi has been actively involved in all areas of textile technology through teaching and research. The faculty members of the Department of Textile Technology, IIT Delhi have been working in the area of innovation in textile material, finishing and technical textiles, which resulted in several products, patents, student projects, and publications in many international journals. As many of these applications are inter disciplinary in nature, the textile faculty have been working with faculty either from other departments of IIT Delhi or from other institutions of international repute. Several important sponsored projects have been taken up with different funding agencies in order to develop new products, test methods, enhance the database and finally build a base for research and development in different areas of textiles.
