PSG to host a National Conference on Technical Textiles

PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore in association with Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA), Ghaziabad will host the National conference on January 24, 2012, which will focus on Industrial & Protective Textiles, a wider category of Technical Textiles. Technical Textiles holds an immense scope for the developing world in terms of employment, new industry, research and exports.

Since Technical textiles research in India is now at growing stage, this conference will provide a National platform for product development through the knowledge and technology sharing and will create awareness amongst participants about the importance of research in this area. The technical sessions of the conference consists of invited lectures by eminent speakers, oral and poster presentations by researchers.

Recently Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India has sanctioned one time grant of Rs 25 crore to NITRA and IIT, Delhi to set up Centre of excellence (COE) on PROTECH-Protective textiles with NITRA as lead partner. Also Ministry has funded PSG College of Technology for setting up COE on INDUTECH-Industrial Textiles.

Objective of Centre of Excellence are to provide certain services to the technical textiles industry. The services are to facilities for testing and evaluation of the products of PROTECH & INDUTECH; to develop national and international accreditation centre; to develop resource centre with I.T. infrastructure; provide facilities for training of core personnel; to promote new product development & commercialize this product and to build Product incubation centre to promote innovation and entrepreneurship.

Target Participants of this conference are technical personnel from textile industry, aspiring entrepreneurs, consumers and business personnel in this field, academicians and students from Textile & Nonwoven Institutes and Research Associations.
