Three jute parks have been approved for the state of Andhra Pradesh, under public-private participation and the Jute Technology Mission, which include an integrated jute park and two jute diversified product parks, informed Mr. Rama Rao, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of A.P. Jute Development Centre Limited (APJDC).

Sabbavaram, near Visakhapatnam would see the establishment of integrated plant on 200 acres of land with the investment of Rs 1 billion. While, two jute diversified product parks will be established at Guntur and at Ibrahimpatnam in Ranga Reddy district, added Mr. Rao.

He was addressing a press conference recently, wherein he further informed that a fund of Rs 75 million along with the funds from the State Government would be allocated for infrastructure development. These jute parks will have potential to provide employment to around 25,000 jobless youth.

APJDC will train entrepreneurs, along with offering extra financial assistance, raw material supply and product marketing. As the Centre has banned the use of plastic, it would offer subsidies to encourage jute industry, he added.

The crop area in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts shrunk to 36,000 hectares from 200,000 hectares as mesta growers had not been offered minimum support price, he informed.
