Dolan to increase its acrylic fibre prices
January 18, 2011 - Germany
German company Dolan GmbH (Kelheim), which manufactures high-quality acrylic fibre, has recently made an announcement regarding the rise in prices of acrylic fibre up to 10 percent. The prices were raised because of the increase in raw material prices as well as energy prices. The price hike will be effective from the first quarter of this year.
Last year, the price of the major raw material acrylonitrile used by the company went up to around 50 percent. The price trend continued to reflect a rising trend. Apart from this, the natural gas prices also registered an increase of up to 40 percent over the same period which consequently increased the manufacturing costs.
Dolan is a top European manufacturer of spun-dyed acrylic fibre, mainly utilized for sun shades, outdoor furniture fabrics and car soft tops. The fibre is also utilized in construction materials as well as hot gas filtration under the brand name of ‘Dolanit’; these two uses are listed under the technical applications of the fibre.
