‘Adding Function and Value’ is theme for 2013 Aachen-Dresden textile conference

The seventh annual Aachen-Dresden International Textile Conference will be held on November 28-29, 2013 at Aachen in Germany.

The “Aachen-Dresden” is an international textile conference, especially for the experts in the field of textile technology, medical technology, membrane technology, and fibre composites. The theme for 2013 conference is 'Adding Function and Value'.

Plenary lectures and special symposia will focus on textiles for health care, electronic functionalities in textiles, sustainability and productivity, new textile machinery concepts, comfort and luxury.

The two technical universities in Aachen and Dresden are the East-West backbone of textile research in Germany. Both, the Aachen and the Dresden area have a strong tradition in textile chemistry and textile engineering, regarding industry as well as research.

The conference is being organized by Deutsches Wollforschungsinstitut an der RWTH Aachen e.V. (DWI) and Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology at TU Dresden.

DWI is a modern research facility with a strong focus on state-of-the-art materials. DWI is linked to the Aachen University via the Chair of Textile Chemistry and Macromolecular Chemistry (TexMC) as part of the Institute of Technical and Macromolecular Chemistry (ITMC) of the Aachen University.

DWI’s main areas of research are: Textile technology, wool, specialty animal fibres Human hair, skin, cosmetics Biomaterials and proteins Macromolecular materials / functional polymers Surface chemistry and nanotechnology.
