Sandler to present its automotive series at mtex

As in the last years, Sandler AG will again present its product range for the automotive industry at the 2012 mtex trade show in Chemnitz from May 8-10. Apart from a wide range of nonwoven fabrics for moulded parts, seat applications and sound absorbers in the interior, the main focus this year are nonwoven absorbers for exterior applications.
With its sawasorb exterior range, the nonwovens manufacturer presents 100% synthetic materials particularly for exterior applications which ensure excellent sound absorption and heat insulation inside the vehicle while being especially durable.
For example, media-resistant nonwovens for textile wheel house liners absorb driving noise where they arise and at the same time they are resistant to mechanical influences such as stone chipping. The nonwovens are also easily mouldable and contour-precise as well as permanently hydrophobic without any additional finish. Therefore, these absorbers now offer in a single material what in the past was only achievable through multilayer composites - for a 100% textile wheel arch liner.
In the engine compartment, sawasorb exterior is used as a sound and heat insulator. Here, it not only absorbs engine noises at their point of origin - the nonwovens also have a heat insulating effect. As engine cover or in the gearbox housing, they effectively slow down the cooling of the engine and connected subassemblies during a standstill, thus reducing cold starts and contributing to a more efficient combustion and lower fuel consumption.
Compared to previously used materials, the lightweight PET nonwovens by Sandler AG also produce significant weight reductions in their different applications in the vehicle while offering an equal acoustic performance. Therefore, they contribute to lowering the fuel consumption, which in turn reduces CO2-emissions.
