Avgol opens fourth nonwovens production line at Mocksville

Avgol America Inc., an Israel based producer of speciality fabrics, has commenced a fourth line for production of nonwoven fabric at its Mocksville plant in North Carolina.
The company, forming a part of Tel Aviv-based Avgol Nonwoven Industries, engages in production of nonwoven fabrics, basically for producers of baby diapers, adult incontinence and feminine hygiene products.
Commencement of the production line means that the company would soon be able to fulfil the promise that it made in February this year to create more jobs, as a part of a US$ 35 million plant expansion.
Opening of the new production line has added 40 new jobs at the plant, thus taking the total number of workers at the Mocksville plant to 180. The average annual wage for the new jobs is US$ 33,629 before benefits, which is more than the average annual wage of US$ 28,808 that workers in Davie County get.
The new production line would boost the plant’s annual production capacity to 60,000 metric tons of nonwoven material, almost half the company’s global capacity.
Procter & Gamble, Unicharm, AHP, Kimberly, Covidien and SCA are some of the names that lead Avgol’s list of clientele.
Speaking at the inauguration of the fourth production line, Sholmo Liran, Chief Executive Officer of Avgol, said if the company chooses to launch a fifth line in Mocksville, the plant would become the world’s biggest nonwoven fabric producing plant.
Ronnie Batchler, Chief Operating Officer for Avgol Nonwoven, said the company is undertaking expansion in parts as their customers continuously keep on challenging them for producing more unique and innovative products that are cost-effective.
Avgol has been standing up to those challenges for over past one decade, and it is this accomplishment that has boosted the company’s growth in Mocksville, he added.
The Non-Woven Institute on the Centennial Campus of N.C. State University abets Avgol’s local production by extending training and assistance support.
