Norplex Micarta Invests in New Instron Machine

Norplex-Micarta, the leading manufacturer of high performance thermoset composites, is pleased to announce the addition of a Model 4486 Instron machine to their quality assurance laboratory.
An Instron machine is a computer-controlled unit designed to evaluate the mechanical properties of materials. The machine is equipped with pneumatic jaws with a 60,000-pound load capacity. The Instron has the ability to test strength and modulus physical properties on sheets up to 1.125? thick and tubes with a maximum OD of 1.40?. It is also equipped with an environmental oven having a temperature range of -100º F to 600º F.
The Instron test system is one of several recent capital expenditures Norplex-Micarta has made to ensure that customers are offered premium manufacturing and testing services. Norplex-Micarta materials span many industries including various electrical, construction, oil and gas, military, and power generation applications. With state-of-the-art test equipment, Norplex-Micarta’s in-house laboratory can conduct the testing that these industries demand. The laboratory has the ability to test to recognized specifications such as Military, NEMA or ASTM D, customer written specifications and many other widely used standards.
