“The concurrent trade shows Texprocess and Techtextil ended with record numbers both for exhibitors and visitors. 1,652 exhibitors from 56 countries presented their innovations to approximately 40,000 industry experts from around the globe.”

Thus was the summary of the management of the Messe Frankfurt in their final report. A crowded booth on all four days and the consistently positive feedback of the many PFAFF INDUSTRIAL-dealers and sales partners from around the world confirm this statement.

The trade show was a huge success for PFAFF INDUSTRIAL who were present at one of the big industry trade shows for the first time following their take over by ShangGong (Europe) Holding Corp. GmbH.

The synergies resulting from the concurrent trade shows Texprocess and Techtextil are of great importance for PFAFF INDUSTRIAL and their product portfolio. Using the motto “Excellence in Seaming” the company showed great solutions for sewing and welding that offer the many customers specific benefits respectively real added value in terms of quality, performance, process reliability.

It was evident that the trade show was not just embraced by the classic garment manufacturers, but also by many visitors from the fields of protective gear/protective clothing, functional apparel, environmental technology, filtration, protection against the sun and automotive looking for “joining solutions”.

The highlight at the predominantly red PFAFF INDUSTRIAL-booth was the presentation of the POWERLINE 3705 cylinder bed machine featuring “Smart Seaming”. “Smart Seaming” was the first ever presentation of a standard industrial sewing machine being controlled via a consumer tablet (featuring the known multi touch-functionalities).

But “Smart Seaming” is more. Smart Seaming realizes a functional extension of classical machine operation by service and management functionalities:

- Simpler and safer parameter setting versus the traditional operator panel
- Assignment of user-specific access rights
- Statistical analysis of current process data and historic data to enable preventive maintenance
- Visualization of current warning messages e. g. “Bobbin thread almost empty”, “Replace needle”, “Replace knife” etc.
- Expanded user assistance due to digital operator manuals, service manuals and video tutorials (in various languages)
- Communication media such as e-mail, Skype, Teamviewer etc. may be integrated due to the powerful electronics of mobile end devices.

PFAFF INDUSTRIAL won the Texprocess-Innovation Award 2013 for „Smart Seaming“. The visitors’ reaction to this concept was overwhelmingly positive. This proved to the company that this concept is the right way to go.

The large area sewing technology impressively showed that PFAFF INDUSTRIAL has become the technology leader in this segment. The highlight of the trade show was the PFAFF 3590 PORTAL. PORTAL machines are efficient sewing units “Made in Germany” which set the standard when it comes to reliability and process reliability for sewing areas of up to 1200 x 700 mm (under development: 2,000 x 1,200 mm).

The sophisticated sewing technology based on our XXL vertical hook and a unique seam-optimizing system provide the highest seam quality and a perfect stitch quality in multi-directional sewing over the whole sewing area.

A controlled thread nipper for needle and bobbin thread ensures a reliable seam start (with a neat stitch formation) across the entire sewing piece. All complex top-stitch and decorative stitching operations can be mastered with this new PFAFF 3590 portal. The machines are offered as a single- or double needle version.

In the welding-segment PFAFF INDUSTRIAL presented all welding methods (hot-wedge, hot-air, ultrasonic). With the ultrasonic machine PFAFF 8312 CS dual a new ultrasonic solution was presented in Frankfurt. The new machine cuts the edges, seals them and seams a second weld seam as reinforcement IN ONE OPERATION.

The two anvil wheels (one for cutting and sealing and the other one to realize the second weld seam) on one post, but on separate shafts. The two wheels are running in sync but the newly patented solution ensures an individual adjustment of the welding force.

This is an absolute unique selling point (USP) for this technology. The machine may be adjusted better and more precisely to the material at hand and increases the process reliability when welding and cutting to weld seams. The minimum distance between weld seam an cutting is around 1 mm.

After the show is before the show. The preparations for the CISMA in Shanghai (25. – 28.09.2013) are already in full swing. PFAFF INDUSTRIAL wants to present the company as an innovative and competent partner “for the joining of textile materials”.
