USCS to lead Indian firms for technical textile tradeshows
July 09, 2013 - India
The US Commercial Service (USCS), a trade promotion arm of the US Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration, will be leading a delegation of Indian companies to participate in the International Buyer Program (IBP) 2013, which will be held in Florida, U.S. from October 23-25, 2013.
The IBP organized by the US Government includes technical textile trade shows such as the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI) 2013, Specialty Fabrics Expo and Advanced Textiles Conference and Trade Show.
“Our delegation to IBP will provide an opportunity for the Indian companies to view the latest technologies available in the field of technical textile and to make their import interests and capabilities as potential partners to the US firms, known to the American business community,” said Ms. Uma Katoch, Textile Sector Specialist at USCS, New Delhi,in an interview with fibre2fashion.
The main objective of IBP is to bring thousands of international buyers to the US for business-to-business matchmaking with several firms in the country exhibiting at major trade shows.
Major buyer markets of IBP will include fabric structures, shading, environmental, geosynthetics, safety, medical, military, marine, upholstery, transportation, filtration, agriculture, covers and many other niche industries.
Talking about the benefits for Indian firms participating in IBP, Ms. Katoch says, “As per the current scenario, technical textile is the fastest growing segment in textiles in India with huge opportunities for partnering with foreign manufacturers and technology providers. Despite India’s strength in manufacturing textiles, India imports major chunk of its total technical textiles consumption. IFAI will enable representatives of government agencies, Indian buyers / importers to network with American companies at a single convenient location.
“Many Indian importers appreciate the advantage of fast registration procedures and comfort of Business Information Office where they can meet with their U.S. suppliers and avail themselves of the benefits of being in an IBP delegation,” she concludes.
