Spanish Rioja to be part of EU’s technical textile project

The Business Association of Construction, Promotion and Allied (CPAR) of the Spanish autonomous community of La Rioja, has been selected to be a part of a European Union (EU) consortium that would build a research project on ‘Technical Textiles multifunctional high performance for construction’.
According to a statement issued by Employers Federation of Rioja, the CPAR would be one of the ten entities from countries like Germany, Belgium, France, Turkey, Italy and Spain, chosen for the initiative, which would be funded by the European Commission, having an investment of € 1.66 million, of which the CPAR would be receiving € 202,602.
The president of CPAR, Carlos Del Ray, and the general secretary Juan Ramon Liebana, recently presented the details of the association’s participation in the European project, which aims to support the competitiveness of small and Medium enterprises (SMEs) in the textile industry for construction not only by developing new multifunctional smart materials, but also through the implementation of procedures and guidelines for the use of these new materials among SMEs.
The CPAR participation in the project would include coordinating the dissemination of partial and final results of the research project between SMEs and Spanish construction companies, studying European legislation on rehabilitation to propose relevant policy changes in order to adapt it to new techniques arising from this research, and validation of the technical data emanating from the research project in coordination with a university.
The research project has been launched in Milan and the first meeting of the initiative has also begun which would run for 36 months, until October 2016.
