Gurit is well known for its professional composite solutions, used in a variety of market sectors. Its roots, however, lie in the boatbuilding industry. Used in round the world race yachts and America’s Cup campaigns, and by established New Zealand leisure and race boat manufacturers, Gurit’s high quality products have also been used by boatowners and home boatbuilders for maintenance, repairs and construction for over 30 years.
Gurit continues to develop new solutions for this sector of the marine market and is pleased to present its Epoxy Repair Kit, a ‘first aid kit’ for boats, comprising everything that is needed to undertake small jobs on a boat, and ideal for use in emergencies and for general maintenance.
Another Gurit development for the build of one-off boats, suitable for the home boatbuilder or an established boatyard, is the Hi-Panel. This solution has been supplied for the build of primary structures of a range of boats – recent projects include the Origami 5.6m centre console RIB and the Marc Deborde 45ft power catamaran – as well as other components such as hold lids for a fishing boat and carbon interior panels for a luxury catamaran.
Resin infused core sandwich panels, to a maximum size of 9m x 2m, are manufactured by Gurit’s experienced laminators. They can be supplied to the customer as finished panels, or CNC-cut to shapes provided, complete with part labels where required.
Projects have shown that lamination time can be reduced by up to 50% when using the Hi-Panel system. A part section of a 6m launch, constructed from Hi-Panels, will be on the Gurit stand at the show, wrapped by Boat Coat with 3M marine-grade vinyl to achieve a cost-effective yet attractive surface finish.
