Expo 2015 main theme at Italy’s technical textiles meeting

Participants at the recently concluded NanoItalTex 2013, an international conference dedicated to technological innovation in the technical textiles sector, hosted at the exhibition center of Malpensa Fiere in Italy, discussed various avenues of the technical textile industry in the country, but the Expo 2015 to be held in Milan, remained the main topic of discussion.
The 9th edition of the event, organized by the Italian Trade Organization for Technical Textiles and Nonwovens (TEXCLUBTEC) and the Center for Textiles, Cotton and Clothing (CENTROCOT), saw participation from various technical textile industry speakers from Italy and abroad, who discussed the possible applications of fabrics in relation to topics such as mobility, health, environment and energy.
According to a statement issued by CENTROCOT, the main discussion of the event was the Expo 2015, which is scheduled to be held in the city of Milan from May 1 to October 31, 2015, where many industrial branches including the technical textile sector of the country would get an opportunity to make new high-profile contacts and partnerships with foreign firms. Over 20 million visitors from 100 different countries are expected at the event.
The participants at the NanoItalTex 2013 discussed various topics regarding goals the Italian technical textile sector would want to achieve during the Expo 2015, as well as opportunities that would be available for the sector at the global event.
The main objective of the discussion was to evaluate the potential benefits of participating in the expo and help the Italian technical textile sector to prepare itself for the huge opportunity.
Renato Scapolan, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Italy, and Andrea Parodi, president of TEXCLUBTEC, opened the conference, which discussed various avenues of the technical textile industry of the country.
Topics of discussion included: The European Union, Technical Textiles and Horizon 2020; The Contribution of Technical Textiles to the objectives and themes of Expo 2015; Innovative textiles for comfortable and sustainable mobility; Products and advanced technologies for the health and well-being; Environmental Sustainability, textiles for a more rational management of the resources of the planet and Textile systems for reducing energy consumption in buildings.
