The new product is designed for multiple uses in technical applications that require light weight and thin, but also high-tenacity textile structures with excellent built-in adhesion to rubber properties.
“The new development combines the well-known high-tenacity multifilament yarn profile with a new yarn dimension”, explains Dr. Christian Vieth, R&D Coordinator at PHP Fibers in Obernburg.
The Enka TecTape process aligns the single filaments into a tape with 3 mm width and only 0.1 mm thickness. Textile fabrics with fewer threads per cm and lower thickness can be produced.
As such, Enka TecTape is able to play an important role in various industry efforts to develop products with significant weight reductions and sufficient strength.
"Possible segments might be light-weight applications, coated fabrics, composite appilcations or tires", adds Marianne Bongartz, Technical Marketing and Development Manager.
