January 08, 2014 - India

The technical textile industry is booming in India. This also explains the success of Techtextil India 2013 in Mumbai.

Compared to 2011, the fair’s 2013 edition witnessed a much larger audience with a 46% increase in business visitors; paired with a 50% increase in exhibiting companies.

The number of international exhibitors from 16 countries increased by 20%. The show welcomed 154 exhibiting companies in total, of which 81 Indian and 73 international companies. The exhibitors used Techtextil as a platform to launch new and innovative products to the industry.

The Picanol booth was even busier this time than during previous events. Indeed, the technical textiles are booming in India, as is the industry that requires these fabrics. The industrial growth figures in India are close to double digits. Local textile companies are looking to enter this interesting field of applications.

Picanol is India’s leading supplier of weaving machines for mainstream fabrics. So it comes as no surprise that our stall drew a lot of interest of people wanting to know how they should start in technical fabrics.

Established technical weavers were of course interested in Picanol's new offerings. The super wide OptiMax rapier loom and the new Heavy Duty Canvas execution, also on OptiMax platform, were well received.
