Mallard Creek releases specialty polymer ‘Rovene 6107’
June 21, 2014 - United States Of America
Building on the success of developing acrylic polymer emulsions one customer at a time, Mallard Creek Polymers, Inc. is excited to announce the release of Rovene 6107. The new specialty polymer is the latest addition to the company’s rapidly expanding line of Rovene resins and Tykote barrier products.
Rovene 6107 is a hard resin supported emulsion but has a minimum film forming temperature below 20°C. This new resin is designed to be used as a letdown vehicle in inks and overprint varnishes for paper and paperboard applications that require excellent transfer and print quality. The R&D team built in many key features with the design, including outstanding gloss, non-blocking characteristics, improved hold-out, and excellent flow and leveling on paper and board substrares.
Additionally, the company has partnered with U.L. Laboratories to provide all of its Packaging products and starting point formulations through the Prospector, formerly Innovadex, web portal. This tool allows the formulation expert to have information on resins, pigments, and addittives all in one place.
“We are pleased to work with the people at U.L. Laboratories and the Prospector tool to provide our customers with a single source for the information they need to formulate inks, OPV’s, and functional coatings. This web portal should speed up the development process for formulation design,” said Rob Beyersdorf, marketing/R&D leader for the company’s Packaging team. This new approach demonstrates the company’s continued commitment to finding ways to support new and existing customers in this growing market.
