September 01, 2014 - China

Toho Tenax Co., Ltd., Teijin Group’s carbon fibers and composites business and Teijin Aramid Asia Co., Ltd., its aramid fibers division are participating at China Composites Expo 2014, being held in Shanghai from September 3 to 5.

Some 450 companies are expected to partake in the Shanghai trade show, which is Asia's largest composites exhibition.

The Teijin booth will showcase innovative applications for carbon and aramid-fiber-reinforced composites, developed by the Teijin group, a producer of high-performance fibers.

Teijin will show carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP), including TENAX TPCL, a thermoplastic consolidated laminate for the Airbus A350 XWB aircraft.

Another molded product, bicycle wheels made with improved ultra-lightweight carbon fiber fabrics, and specially designed carbon fibers for pressure vessels, also will be exhibited.

Teijin Aramid Asia will also exhibit two filament yarns; Twaron Black and Technora Black, both deep-black versions of high-modulus para-aramid fibers that were originally available only in yellow.

Teijin said these are highly suited to applications requiring stiffness, strength, lightness and beauty, such as boat hulls and sails, motorcycle helmets, hockey sticks and other sporting goods.

Other aramid composite applications on display will include, pressure vessel circuit breaker rods and various uses in civil engineering.

Tokyo stock exchange listed - Teijin Group has 150 companies and around 16,000 employees in over 20 countries in its fold and posted sales of $7.7 billion in year ending March 31, 2014.
