October 06, 2014 - United States Of America
Secant Medical said it will present “Existing Textile Technology Matched with Material Innovation” during the medical track at the IFAI Advanced Textiles Expo on October 13 at 3:15 pm.
The Secant Medical presentation will address the use of advanced biomaterials in biomedical textile components and the challenges faced when engineered with current textile processes.
Chris Glasby, Senior Manufacturing Engineer at Secant Medical will provide a brief history of implantable textiles, including the leap from textiles engineered with synthetic materials, to resorbable materials and the development of regenerative tissue scaffolds.
Glasby will also discuss the future of biomaterials, including the benefits and applications of the resorbable bioelastomer poly (glycerol sebacate) (PGS).
“I have been in the textile industry for more than 24 years and have seen firsthand the challenges that arise when integrating new or advanced biomaterials with traditional textile engineering,” said Glasby.
He added, “This conference will be an opportunity to show the textile industry how Secant Medical is overcoming these obstacles and developing next-generation biomedical textile structures.”
The Advanced Textiles Expo takes place October 14-16 in Minneapolis at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The Advanced Textiles Expo program begins Monday, October 13.
IFAI Specialty Fabrics Expo and the Advanced Textiles Expo is the largest specialty fabrics event in the Americas.
These combined shows offer the broadest exposure to the foundation and the future of the entire specialty fabrics industry, with more than 400 exhibits covering more than 100,000 square feet.
Advanced Textiles programming offers an in-depth look at the latest achievements, innovative applications and technologies used in advanced textiles. (AR)
