Adhesives producer Bostik opens new French R&D Centre

Adhesives producer – Bostik said it has inaugurated its new R&D Centre - the Bostik Smart Technology Centre near Paris.
The R&D Centre will undertake various activities which include upstream R&D to deepen knowledge of materials and develop new polymers for smart adhesives, especially in polyurethanes, polyesters and silyl-modified polymers.
Downstream R&D to develop innovative adhesives based, in particular, on two core Bostik technologies — hot melt adhesives and elastic adhesives made from reactive elastomers.
The R&D Centre will host pilot demonstrations designed to test the application of bonding solutions in full-scale simulations.
“This research enables Bostik to develop innovative solutions for the company's various markets — industrial, construction and consumer adhesives,” Bostik said.
It has been built on 20,000 square meters of property with a built up area of 5,100 square meters at a cost of €12 million and currently has 105 employees on its rolls.
“This world-class R&D centre - alongside ones in the US and China, strengthens our research and development capacities,” said Bostik CEO, Bernard Pinatel.
“This Centre of Excellence for adhesive materials will be innovation-driven and will focus on developing smart adhesives, " he added.
Bostik is a global adhesive specialist in industrial manufacturing, construction and consumer markets.
With 2013 sales of €1.6 billion, the company employs 4,800 people and has a presence in more than 50 countries. (AR)
