Former Teijin Aramid CEO bags top Netherlands award

Eiso Alberda van Ekenstein, former Teijin Group Senior Executive Officer and CEO of Teijin Aramid B.V. in Arnhem - Netherlands, was named an Officer in Order of Oranje Nassau.
The royal distinction was awarded in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to Dutch-Japanese relations and his social contributions to the communities of Arnhem and Rozendaal.
The Order of Oranje-Nassau was established by Netherlands in 1892 and the order decorates persons who deserve society’s gratitude and recognition for their special contributions.
Alberda van Ekenstein is the third Oranje-Nassau recipient in Teijin Group, along with former CEO Shosaku Yasui in 2002 and former CEO Toru Nagashima in 2009.
Alberda van Ekenstein helped to oversee the production and commercialization of Twaron para-aramid fiber at Akzo Nobel N.V.
He also played a significant role for the Teijin Group after it acquired the Twaron business in 2000. Through his efforts, Teijin has helped to strengthen economic and cultural ties between Japan and Netherlands.
Among his legacies are Teijin’s sponsorship of the Stedelijk Museum of Modern Art in Amsterdam and main sponsorship of the Arnhem Philharmonic Orchestra.
When he became a corporate officer of the Teijin Group in 2005, he was the first non-Japanese ever to assume this post. (AR)
