9M revenues stay flat at technical textiles maker Sioen

In the nine months to September 31, 2014, revenues stayed flat from a year ago period at producer of technical textiles and protective clothing and Belgium based, Sioen Industries NV.
In the first nine months of 2014, Sioen Industries realized total sales from continuing operations of €243.3 million, steady from €243.3 million over the same period in 2013.
Sales at the coating division, which comprises of yarns, fabrics and technical coated textiles, fell to €143.6 million from €146.1 million in the first nine months of 2013.
Sioen said as a whole, sales remained more or less stable in the coating segment. “While, a few markets are lagging, others like transport, building, agriculture and pool markets kept up with the forecasted growth,” it said.
For the first nine months of 2014, sales at the apparel division, which manufactures protective clothing, rose to €73.2 million or 3.5 per cent from €70.7 million in the same period of 2013.
“Apart from the tender for the Dutch police force that was won by us, most product lines are on track with budgeted sales,” Sioen informed.
Sales at the chemicals segment, which has in its portfolio, pigment pastes, inks, varnishes, colour powders and dispersions stayed flat at €36.9 million from last year.
On its outlook for the rest of the year, Sioen expects macro-economic indicators to show little change.
“On the contrary, geopolitical uncertainty and potential raw material price increases, weigh on the future, but have been anticipated where possible,” it stated. (AR)
