Bostik launches new moisture-cured urethane adhesive
January 09, 2015 - United States Of America
Bostik, a leading global adhesive specialist in industrial manufacturing, construction, and consumer markets, has launched a new, one-component, moisture cured, and urethane adhesive.
The SG1578-164 adhesive from Bostik has a unique balance of good green strength with a long open time making it an excellent choice for processing of assembly fixtures. The SG1578-164 is the latest innovation in hot melt technology from Bostik.
SG1578-164 is engineered for assembly manufacturers needing good green strength build up, but also need to reposition substrates before the adhesive is set. The feature allows the assemblers to position the substrates with precise accuracy before the product is moved down the assembly line, according to reports.
The new product has demonstrated success on rigid panel assemblies, garage doors, composite panels, windows and doors, and vehicle load floors in automotive applications. Manufacturers will find the adhesive to provide the needed time to adjust and reposition substrates while still providing the necessary strength to maintain the bond until fully cured.
Lianne Rachow, Bostik product line manager, said, “The SG1578-164 is ideally suited for manufacturers who need a little extra time to position differing substrates before the adhesive sets. The extra open time will allow for precise placement of the part producing a better finished product. The urethane technology has great adaptability to many different substrates. Manufacturers will appreciate the ease of use for their particular application.”
Bostik designs, manufactures, and markets adhesives and sealants for three key markets: industry, construction and consumer. Its products are used in a wide range of fields – from gas tankers and buildings to furniture and diapers. (GK)
